Florence Ivy is a native of Long Island, NY, and a first-year graduate of the Lily Lieb Port Creative Writing Program at Purchase College. Her main focus is in writing micro, or flash fiction, and she is currently working on a novel. She has been writing for over thirty years. In addition to her writing, Florence is an avid photographer, crested gecko breeder, and gardener usually found with a camera around her neck and dirt under her nails. Her preferred photography methods are candid, natural light shots in the photojournalistic style, but more formal sessions are always welcome for a change of pace. She resides in Suffolk County, NY, in a house by the ocean, with her partner and several adopted cats. Currently, Florence works as a freelance staff writer, photographer, and videographer for Generations Beyond.

Favorite Quote: “…There is more than one way to burn a book. And the world is full of people running about with lit matches. Every minority, be it Baptist/Unitarian, Irish/Italian/Octogenarian/Zan Buddhist, Zionist/Seventh-day Adventist, Women’s Lib/ Republican, Mattachine/FourSquareGospel feels it has the will, the right, the duty to douse the kerosene, light the fuse. Every dimwit editor who sees himself as the source of all dreary blanc-mange plain porridge unleavened literature, licks his guillotine and eyes the neck of any author who dares to speak above a whisper or write above a nursery rhyme….” -Ray Bradbury
